Abstract: We will demonstrate how electrons can be steered with the light field of ultrashort laser pulses. Recent examples include fully coherent electron dynamics at the surface of needle tips, inside of graphene, and at nanophotonic structures. Based on these results, we foresee applications ranging from petahertz electronics to new particle accelerators on a chip.
