Physics of the Cell and Viral Infection

Cells are building blocks of life with complex physical processes that condition the behavior of many organisms including humans. This lecture introduces cellular physical processes and illuminates them in the context of viral infection. Not only will the physical fundamentals of viruses be presented, but also and especially details about the important role of physical characteristics of the cell membrane, that is the cellular envelope, will be highlighted and the modern (super-high-resolution) methods by which these details are microscopically elucidated explained: A biophysical voyage through the foundations of life, the backgrounds of the recent pandemic and modern microscopy methods.
