This event will be in German language: Professional exchange with, and mentoring by, experienced researchers are valuable opportunities when you plan on developping your own academic career and networks. Jena University offers a variety of mentoring programmes for postdoctoral researchers. This event aims to provide an informative overview of the existing mentoring offers and what you need to take part.

15.30 – 16.30 Uhr: (German) Introduction to Research Funding for Postdocs (Online)
This event will be in German language: For many postdoctoral researchers, winning their own third party funding is an important step towards professional independence and developping their own career plan. The Service Center for Research and Transfer (SFT) is the university's central support center to provide help with third party funding aquisition: The SFT will provide support, starting from the initial project idea, over research for national or international funding organisations, to mentoring the actual funding applications. The event introduces multiple funding opportunities for postdoctoral researchers, as well as the general support offers of SFT.

14.00 – 14.45 Uhr: (German/English) Coffee and Career: Exchange over Career Paths, Professional Orientation, WissZeitVG (Hybrid)
This event will be in German or English language, depending on the needs of participants: The career & coffee hour will provide the opportunity to get into an informal exchange about all questions concerning your career planning as (future) Postdocs. We may touch on questions such as the WissZeitVG limited contract regulations, the topic of habilitation equivalents and more. Our talk partners will be Katrin Glaser of Jena University Staff Council and Michael Wutzler of Graduate Academy.

15.00 – 15.20 Uhr: (German/English) how to network with other Postdocs: Possibilities of Peer Exchange (Hybrid)
This event will be in German or English language, depending on the needs of participants: Peer networking with Postdocs from other disciplines offers a valuable chance to get into exchange on metadisciplinary questions and challenges of the academic every-day life. Graduate Academy's Anne Dünger will give a very brief introduction to peer-to-peer-coaching offers for Postdocs, such as German or English language peer exchange groups or peer coaching.

This event will be in German: How significant is mental health care during the postdoctoral career phase? What are offers by the university when it comes to mentalhealth care? Feel welcome to spend your lunch break at the Cafeteria "Zur Rosen" and talk to us about it. The Postdoc-Team of Graduate Academy (Dr. Michael Wutzler & Anne Dünger) will gladly stop their munch to answer your questions.

14.30 – 16.00 h: Discussion (German): Performance Assessment in German Academia (Hybrid)
This event will be held in German language: What does performance mean in the academic career environment today - and what are criteria for "performing" as a university member? René Krempkow (HTW Berlin) in his presentation will provide an introduction to the topic of performance assessment and its various dimensions, plus introduce the recent developments and challenges in the german academic system. This talk is open to postdoctoral researchers, but also to tenure track professors and science managers.
