The university has built a digitalisation taskforce, and all central information and advice on the digitalisation of FSU education, research and administration is given at www.uni-jena.de/digital.
At ASP, we provide more detailed information that assist you in creating digital teaching content in practice. The site is continuously updated. If you have questions, you can reach our ASP digital teaching team at . As a lecturer, there are two steps which you need to take and which we explain via via tutorials in the following:
- Create digital content or learning videos of your lectures. For this purpose, our Lichtwerkstatt team is providing the following tutorials showing how to do this (Steps 1-4).
- Set a MOODLE account of your course via Friedolin, and insert your digital content. For more information, jump to the bottom of this page.

show Content Q1. Why should I use MOODLE?
The FSU MOODLE System handles enrollment of students from Friedolin, course creation, data protection etc. widely automatically. It provides all necessary tools to create and manage digital teaching content in a convenient way for the lecturer. All students are automatically prompted with news in the courses they are enrolled in. Moreover, you can collect assignments and discuss with your students directly on the platform. If you do not want to use the MOODLE system, you have to take care of these issues on your own.
show Content Q2. How do I get a MOODLE course for my lecture?
Once your course appears in Friedolin, click the edit pen symbol, find the E-Learning tab and activate MOODLE, like shown here. Please note that for one teaching module (e.g. lecture plus seminars) only one MOODLE registration is necessary. Then, click "save".
After synchronization of the Friedolin databases (every 24 hours), you will receive an email notification confirming that your course has been created. If you now log in at moodle.uni-jena.de, your course appears at "my courses", and you are automatically gained editing rights.
In case that you receice an error code like "You cannot enroll yourself in this course", something went wrong concerning the Friedolin synchronization. In that case we encourage you to write a short message to . Thomas Kaiser can manually set your rights or solve the issue in cooperation with the FSU MOODLE administration team.
show Content Q3. How do I grant editing rights for assistants / HiWis?
Assistants supporting your courses can be given editing rights for your MOODLE courses. To this end, they need to have logged in at least once to moodle.uni-jena.de with their personal FSU credentials to be registered in MOODLE as users. After this, please proceed like this: in the administration tab on the right, find Enrolled users:
