Be a part of DoKDoK 2019 - the doctoral student conference on Optics and Photonics from September 23rd to 27th 2019 near Eisenach, Thuringia.

Update: The final program is online now!

What is DoKDoK?

DoKDoK is a scientific conference for doctoral (PhD) and master students in all areas of Optics and Photonics. The conferences aims to help young researchers to connect with each other, exchange knowledge, polish their conference presentation skills by offering an authentic atmosphere for scientific exchange at eye level.

DoKDoK is hosted by the Abbe School of Photonics of the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena and the Jena Alliance Life in Focus - A Carl Zeiss Foundation Project. The conference is traditionally organized by a team of doctoral students of this graduate school.

Who are the Keynote speakers?

Prof. Dr. Timo Mappes

Director Deutsches Optisches Museum,
Professor for the History of Physics, FSU

"Optics & Photonics: Competences

for Research in Academia & Industry"

Where and when is DoKDoK 2019?

DoKDoK 2019 will be held on September 23rd to 27th, 2019 in the 4**** Landhotel “Alte Fliegerschule” near Eisenach, Thuringia. The conference venue is located near the gates of Eisenach in a green and idyllic environment with a good travel connection. It is within reach of the Wartburg, Bachhaus, Lutherhaus and the Thuringian Forest.

The strong presence of industrial and academic expertise in Optics and Photonics in Thuringia, pioneered by Ernst Abbe, Carl Zeiss and Otto Schott, makes this location an ideal place for DoKDoK 2019.

What topics does DoKDoK 2019 cover?

The conference addresses doctoral students, master students, or young post-docs working in Optics and Photonics. Technical sessions will cover topics including Ultrafast Optics, Non-linear Optics, Biophotonics, Spectroscopy, Microscopy & Imaging, Micro- & Nanooptics, Quantum Optics, Optical Sensing & Metrology, Optical System Design, Semiconductor Optics, Fiber Optics, and more.

Why should I participate in DoKDoK?

DoKDoK provides doctoral students the unique chance to closely get in contact with other young researchers. The flat hierarchy creates an innovative and open minded environment to present and discuss achievements and new ideas, as well as difficulties in the scientific work of young researchers. Additionally, the scientific program will be supplemented by keynote lectures from experienced scientists at the top of their fields. Furthermore, company representatives will give insights into job and career opportunities.

How can I participate in DoKDoK 2019?

Do not miss the chance to participate in DoKDoK 2019 by presenting a talk or poster. In both cases, a one-page abstract for review and publishing is required.

The participant fee for DoKDoK 2019 is 150 EUR for participants with a scientific contribution. This includes board and lodging and the participation in the Social Day program.
