The Collegium Jenense was not only the founding site but also, until the 19th century, the heart of the University of Jena. It was not only the venue for meetings of the Senate and the ecclesiastical consistory, but also the site of lectures, academic ceremonies and the burial place for members of the university. In addition, the university church also served as a student hall of residence from 1558 to 1592. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to explore the surviving structures from the 16th to the 21st centuries within this unique building complex.
