Why we offer this workshop

International students have asked us to offer a workshop to help them to deal with racist behaviour in everyday situations, outside, but also sometimes inside, the university. The workshop primarily aims at students of colour, but also other interested students standing up against against racism may take part. The International Office supports international students and their interests.

Participants

University of Jena students. This workshop means to empower you and offer you a safe space.

Workshop Objectives

By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Understand different forms of racism (individual, structural, cultural)
  • Reflect on personal experiences and positionalities.
  • Develop language and confidence to respond to racism
  • Learn strategies for allyship and navigating German social contexts
  • Build a sense of shared support and community
