Abstract Submission
Formatting of the Abstract
The submission for DoKDoK should consist of a 1-page abstract in PDF format (.pdf). Additionally, you need to upload the corresponding LaTeX sources (.tex), including all pictures (limited to .jpg and .png files). Any auxiliary files created during LaTeX compilation (.aux, .bbl, .bcf, .blg, .log, .synctex.gz, etc.) should NOT be uploaded during submission. Only upload 1 PDF (.pdf), 1 LaTeX (.tex), and all required image files.
The purpose of the abstract is to provide a concise introduction to your research topic, keeping in mind that the audience may not be specialized in your field.
To format the abstract correctly, please adhere to the following instructions:
- The abstract should not exceed one page and should offer a brief overview of the research topic to be presented at DoKDoK, including a short introduction. You can refer to the template provided to understand the proper formatting.
- Please avoid modifying the template settings or document class to fit more text or information onto one page. It is important to adhere to the page limit.
- Authors must submit a publication-ready version of the abstract. Therefore, please provide the original file (.tex) along with the picture files in .jpg or .png format.
- DO NOT upload ZIP/RAR files! Each file of the abstract should be uploaded individually.
- Note that this year all abstracts must be created using LaTeX. Abstracts can be created using Overleaf (overleaf.com) an online LaTeX compiler, or any local LaTeX compiler installed directly on your laptop. Unzip all the files before editing the abstract. If you are using Overleaf as the editor, make sure to upload all the files, including the dokdok.cls file.
- Bibliography entries should be added as standard BibLaTeX entries in the \begin{filecontents*} environment in the preamble of the template file. Note that when uploading the abstract the .bib file does NOT need to be uploaded. DO NOT use any external bibliography file (e.g., .bib file) for referencing!
The DoKDoK LaTeX class (dokdok.cls) has a number of helpful commands you can use to ensure consistent formatting:
- \section{Section Name} -> Create a new section header
- \subsection{Subsection Name} -> Create a new subsection header
- \EqRef{label} -> Reference an equation (must be labeled) in the main text
- \FigRef{label} -> Reference a figure (must be labeled) in the main text
- \TabRef{label} -> Reference a table (must be labeled) in the main text
- \SecRef{label} -> Reference a section (must be labeled) in the main text
- \vec{F} -> To be used in a math environment to denote "F" as a vectorial quantity
- \func{F}{a,b,c} -> To be used in a math environment to display the arguments "a", "b", and "c" of the function "F"
If you are new to LaTeX please pay close attention to the example.tex file, as it shows the syntax required to create most elements you may need for your abstract. If you require any assistance please email us at dokdok@uni-jena.de.
Remember, ONLY abstracts with proper formatting will be accepted!
