What is DoKDoK?

It is a conference for doctoral (PhD) students in all areas of Optics and Photonics. The purpose is to help young researchers connect with each other, exchange knowledge, polish their conference presentation skills and discuss the ups and downs of academic life. DoKDoK is hosted by the Abbe School of Photonics (Friedrich Schiller University Jena) and is organized by a team of doctoral students of this graduate school.

Where and when is DoKDoK 2018?

DoKDoK 2018 will be held on September 17th -21st, 2018 in the “Ahorn Berghotel” in Friedrichroda, Thuringia. The modern conference hotel offers much space for scientific and personal communications among the participants. The region around Jena is an ideal place for this conference due to the strong presence of small, big and multinational companies in this field, pioneered by Ernst Abbe, Carl Zeiss and Otto Schott.

What topics does DoKDoK 2018 cover?

Every doctoral student, master student, or young post-doc working in optics is welcome to submit an abstract. Categories include ultrafast optics, non-linear optics, biophotonics, spectroscopy, microscopy and imaging, micro- and nanooptics, quantum optics, optical sensing and metrology, optical system design semiconductor optics, and fiber optics.

Why should I participate in DoKDoK?

DoKDoK gives doctoral students the unique chance to closely get in contact with other young researchers. The flat hierarchy creates an innovative and open minded environment to present and discuss achievements and new ideas, as well as difficulties in the scientific work of young researchers. Additionally, the scientific program will be supplemented by keynote lectures from experienced scientists at the top of their fields. Furthermore, company representatives will give insights into job and career opportunities.

How can I participate in DoKDoK 2018?

We encourage you to participate in the conference by presenting a talk or poster. In both cases, a one-page abstract for review and publishing is required. LaTeX and Microsoft Word templates are available at our homepage. Make sure to subscribe to the DoKDoK Newsletter to not to miss out on any upcoming news. Also visit us on Facebook.

The participant fee for DoKDoK 2018 is 150 EUR for participants with a scientific contribution. This includes board and lodging and the participation in the Social Day program.
